De-cat Question

Hey everyone!

was talking with couple of friends of mine and they mentioned a de-cat, they said that it makes the car louder and even makes it slightly more powerful, so i thought i'll ask on here as my mate sounded silly.

So the question is, does it make the car much louder? does give power increase?

and also do you know where i can get one, online, and the price range? my engine is 1,5 and the model is 1NZ...

Round were I live making the car ‘louder’ usually coincides with actually making the car SLOWER (due to messing with the exhaust).

There are specific ‘de-cat’ exhaust systems but please beware that when it is your vehicle inspectorate/roadworthiness test time the vehicle may fail (unless old system is refitted for time of examination).

Points to remember:

Is the de-cat system specific for your car? …and not some universal ‘hash-up’ from the local boy racer outlet centre which may actually hamper performance due to it messing up the vehicle management system etc.

Also many people think the bigger the exhaust bore pipe the faster it will go …wrong! To big an exhaust bore and you mess up backpressure, this in turn will again slow the car down.

As you are in Cyprus I can’t really recommend anywhere to purchase a reputable system from.

You got a 1.5l engine? 1NZ-FE?

Best bet is to go to an exhaust place like Petrakis Exhaust and get them do sort it for you

what i thought im going to do, there is this guy who did quite a fair bit of powerfull cars and bikes, Tikkos, maybe u heard of him, will ask him today.
