Put a deposit down on a 1.0 vvti gls freetronic yaris. i probably will take it for a test drive on friday

have some questions about it though

when stopped do i have to put it into neutral? for example at juncitions? or can i put it into first and wait? or will this damage the gearbox?

also what is the toys you get with the gls?

oh and hello by the way

Hiya and welcome!

You've put a deposit down on a car you've not even seen, let alone test-driven?? Thats a bit risky, dont you think?

Hello!

You want to speak to "Red Yaris 54", aka "Steve"* - he has the next generation model but should be abole to give you some sort of guidance. I think that "Bee" has a freetronic too, but I could be wrong.

Good luck and welcome

A

*but I'm not sure that's his real name

Hello and welcome to TOC

As Alan* said, I have the Yaris MMT which is the succesor to the Freetronic.

On the MMT it is perfectly alright to leave the car "In gear" at junctions but you must remember to keep your foot on the footbrake as this has the effect of disengaging the drive between the engine and gearbox.

I think that the technique is the same for the Freetronic, but BEE should be able to confirm this.

You can, of course put the gearlever into neutral when you stop at junctions if you really want to, but leaving it in gear with your foot on the brake is o.k (In fact with the MMT it recommends that this technique is used in the handbook) and you should not cause any damage to the gearbox.

I hope that you enjoy your car

* I think thats his real name :P (You never can be sure with Scotsmen  )

ahh yeh that clears it up a bit, i did go to see it but itll be ready for me friday.

quite looking forward to be able to change gears, the only car i could use was my mums renault clio automatic, seeing as no-one in my family had a manual/would let me use their manual after passing my test.

not sure if im getting a good deal. im paying £3700 for it, but it has done less than 30,000 miles so i suppose its alright

really looking forward to it though, ive heard nothing but praise for the yaris

Not to open a new thread...

I just bought a Vitz which will be coming in the first week of september. Its a 2nd-hand Vitz from Japan. I heard they are very good cars and I did not hesitate to buy it once I set eyes on it. I should get my driving licence in a weeks time so it will be the first car I drive. I hope it lives up to the expectations.

This is it... My Vitz

I hope I made the right decision. What do y'all think?

P.S. Hi all :)

Nah, I hadn't even sat in a Yaris before I paid the best part of 2 years savings for mine & had no kind of come-back if something wasn't right because I bought it at an auction, I knew a Yaris was the car for me well before I got to that stage though.

Not knowing if you got a good deal before you agree to it really is risky though, you can never do too much research when it comes to buying a car, I spent endless time from the minute I decided on a Yaris finding out what different variations were going for so when I bought mine I knew I was getting a bargain.

Well personally i think its a good deal. Ive Studied car mags and the such and the yaris usually holds its value. and its the gls version, which i know comes with features that the car ive been driving so i think its a good deal.

Just wondering what other people thought

Its had 2 previous owners, both brought at as a little run-around, but didnt get used, and i cant argue with less than 30,000 miles

Yeah, it seems like a decent price but I haven't really checked the prices of that model, you should get loads of trouble-free driving from it with that kind of mileage though, I've had mine from 18500, it's now on 30500 & I haven't had 1 problem.

Have a look HERE to see the spec

About 15 minutes away from Romford :P

In Grays :) oh and a handy bit of info - the Lookers Romford Dealership seems to be better than Rayleigh.
