Speakers In Car Do They Need To Be Same Make?

Hi, im a newb to the toyota forums, Have had my rolla for a year now and im happy with it. I have done some bits to it, will post pics of it soon, mostly interior. I have a Toyota GR6 corolla 1999. I have put in an alpine headunit and a pair of alpine 6x9s. I have also put in an FLI sub. I have turned down the front Speakers completley and just use the backs as they sound really good and have practically no disotrtion. I am now looking to upgrade the front Speakers but need a bit of advice. should i go for the same make of speaker or is it fine to got for another make? I am looking at either getting some alpine 1357 component Speakers or the infinity reference 1510cs both i have heard are pretty good im leaning towards the infinity but dont know if it would match the back speakers. any advice will be appereciated.

also is 13cm speakers ok to fit in the place of the old speakers in a GR6? i have searched the forums for info on this but no hard info on it was found.

Last thing anyone know any good car audio installers round croydon?

As long as you get speakers with the correct impedance, brand is irrelevant.

what does impendence mean? I have found out that the current alpines i have are 4ohm and the infinity Speakers are 4 ohms aswell not sure what the 1357 alpines are though

Another thing to remember would be power rating i think.

Your 6x9 Speakers could have a power rating of say 200watts, but your front Speakers might only have 100watts, so the back Speakers will sound louder.

Also, if you already have a sub in boot and decent front speakers, then rear speakers would be useless, as i found in past experience. You can use them as an effect sound than main sound, but thats personal opinion.

Also, the speaker's sensitivity (decibel) would also have an impact on the level of volume as well

Power rating won't make a jot of difference in that regard. If you are supplying

20 watts to each speaker, that is what you'll get from each. Power rating effects

the maximum power that you can apply to the Speakers before they will burn out.

However, power rating can effect sound quality. If you are running four Speakers,

and two are near the limits of their power rating, the sound quality may suffer from

those two. Better to get Speakers that have an excessive RMS, (not PMPO, as this

is a largely made up figure, drawn from thin air), power rating compared to the

output power your amplifier can supply.
