Finally, I can post on here!

Firstly want to say hi now that I can. Bought a new Aygo back in May and have been looking at these boards for a while. Was just looking through the list of downsides of the Aygo in the Frequently Asked Questions bit (plus I've read some members mention them in threads) and really dont think they're as bad as all that....

1. Hazard warning lights / rear demist button don't light up

2. Only 1 boot strut

3. Interior light not switched on passenger door

4. No temp gauge

5. Rattly interior 'A' Pillar plastic

6. Cheap looking gear knob (easily change circa £17 or so)

7. No boot light

8. Rear glass boot hatch knob sometimes doesn't click out again after being pressed in

9. Rear wiper slow and ineffective

10. Front wiper can leave stripes

11. Sound system is quite poor

12. Gets dirty very quickly (especially the back)

13. Brakes grind when first pressed if not used for a while

14. Carpet in drivers footwell wears at clutch touching point

15. Volume is very low on Aux input use

16. Interior door handle pull covers are prone to weaken

1. This is annoying, agree with this one.

2. It still holds the boot up doesn't it?

3. Again, agree, annoying.

4. You still get a warning light if the temperature is too high don't you? (Had the fortune not to see this yet)

5. Not noticed this yet, even on the M4. edit

6. Does this really matter? It has numbers on it, what do people want it to do??

7. Bad in the dark, agree with this.

8. Hasn't happened to me yet.

9. This doesn't seem to be a problem. It clears enough of the screen, OK agree it's not a lot. As for ineffective: as the rear window is almost perpendicular to the road, even if you're moving forward at 2mph rain doesn't really get on it (unless the wind is pushing it)

10. DEFINATELY agree with this one!

11. DON'T agree with this: I plug my iPod into the stereo, on max, and have the stereo at 40 (sometimes up to 45), I've also turned up a couple of the parts on the equaliser and it sounds awesome.

12. Yes it does, but don't most cars? And the front of mine is dirtier than the back!

13. Haven't come across this yet.

14. Mine's wearing out where I have my heel between the brake and accelerator.

15. HATE this, as I mentioned, I need to have my iPod up at max. Then if I switch to radio it's always far too loud.

16. I can see this happening.

OK so my first post is almost a rant, but I don't wish to start arguments, but discussions. I'm hoping to get some counter arguments for these points, well the ones I disagree with anyway....

Hope not to get banned after one post!

Point 5 could well get you 4 points................(on your licence).................Not a wise move to boast about on road speeding on a public forum, keep it for the track ;)

Haha, wasn't a boast, but point taken!

Nice to hear someone reads the FAQ !

The points were just put in there as general observations really - it's not intended to be a 'don't buy Aygo because of this' type list.

BTW - for all Aygo readers - just to let you know that I have recently moved and started a new job. I have limited internet access at the mo' - I am reading posts but dial up frustrates and prevents me from being too active in Aygo right now.

I should be back in the land of the living (broadband) within about 10 days or so.

Steve

Actually, regarding point 10, if you start getting streaks/stripes, doesn't the windscreen just need a clean? Even with just a quick screenwash. Seems to be better when I do this...
