Afternoon all,

My baby is due a full service in 500 miles and ive got a friend of a friend that works in the local garage.

This fella say's he'll do me a full service on the cheap, if i buy all the gear needed and bring it to him.

Just wondering what exactly i need?

Am i right in saying:

Spark plugs (any specific type?)

Fuel filter

Air filter (not needed cause of induction)

Oil filter

Oil (Which type? 10w 40/60 etc?)

Anything advice or other bits would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Guys

I generally use Millers10w40, a TRD oil filter for services.

I change the coolant and brake fluid say once a year.

Toyota Red coolant is fine and motul 5.1 brake fluid is good.

Cheers Guys,

10w 40 it is then!

Its a 51 reg T Sport on 35,500 miles.

So will i need to purchase brake fluid and coolant to?

I bought her on 30K, this is the first time she's been service under my ownership,

I wanna make sure she running in tip top form.

Personally I would do the whole lot:

Millers 10w40 - 25 from envy

TRD Filter - 20ish I think from envy

Red Coolant - 15-20 ish depending on MrT or Envy

Motul 5.1 5 from envy ...

- that way you know everythings done and running smoothly

Toyota would do Oil filter and oil change, plugs, handset remote batteries, and its recommended for the brake fluid to be changed. The gearbox oil would also be changed.

Engine Oil: 10/35w Semi-Synthetic

Gearbox Oil: 75/90w

I think the handset batteries are either CR1616, or CR2016.

The gearbox oil ... well I asked repeatedly and was told it wouldnt need doing.

In the end I got it done regardless for peice of mind...

No drama - I'd recommend either the TRD filter or Power Enterprise ones - the oil stays cleaner noticeably longer and for the difference in price you can grumble either.
