i noticed today that there is quite a loud hissing coming from my engine, louder than the normal engine note when idling, i haven't noticed it before (music usually too loud probably )

i did drill holes in the bottom of my air box a while ago and got a pipercross filter.... would this produce a loud hissing noise when idling? or could it be something else?

it's not coming from any of the belts, and it's not coming from the airbox itself. hmmmm

put my mind at rest :)

ummm... don't think your airbox will be hissing at idle...

Not what you want to be thinking about, I know, but are there any liquids in unexpected places in the engine bay / on the floor? Pop the bonnet, and run it for 5 mins, see what covers you in gunk!

all sorted now thanks,

one of the small hoses going into the underside of the main hose coming from the airbox had popped off.

phew :)
