does it really matter that the rear tyres are wider than the fronts?

any of you guys have bigger wheels and tyres but with 4 tyres the same size ???

I'd certainly stick with the different width front and rear. It's a necessity for how the car's been set up with regards to handling, traction etc.

When I ran 17's, I had 17x7J wheel on the front with 215/40/17 tyres, and 17x8J wheel on the rear with 235/40/17 tyres. Now I'm running a mismatch rim diameter I have 17x7J wheel on the front with 215/40/17 tyres and 18x8J wheel on the rear with 245/35/18 tyres.

Stick with the same width tyres front and rear and expect to feel funny things happening. The steering won't feel right, and the balance of grip on the rear won't feel right. You'll probably get away with the same wheel widths front and rear (i.e. 7J), but not really recommended.

Hope this helps.

Defo's go staggered mate.

I know of a few people that have had mishaps where the culprits are same size tyres. They reported miles better behaviour when they changed 'em!

As we are on the topic of tyres, what pressures do you use guys use?

I have mk2 rev3 with standard wheels and need to put some air in, but unsure of optimum amount of psi needed!

Any guidance gratefully received!!
