Climate Control - Does The Temperature Work?

On my E Class when 17 degrees is set, it is warmer than low, and if the day is not particulary hot, 20 as an example is warmish, fresh filtered air, and 24 is warmer still for a slightly chilly day. Each degree increment is a bit warmer. The climate control works as predicted, set a temperature and forget about it.

However on my Avensis I've noticed it can't seem to graduate the temperature. Mine seems cold all the way to 19, (i.e. 19 seems the same temperature as the lowest setting) and not much warmer up to about 22 degrees?... then it gets all hot around 25 degrees. (but too hot for a mild day). I find it hard to get out a slightly warm cool air, when I don't need stone cold or very warm?

The degree of temperature coarsness appears to be similar to a manual air conditioned car, i.e. air con on, or air con off with nothing in the middle if you know what I mean?

my missus thinks the same. that the climate control doesnt work. but she is always flicking it up and down. i keep telling her to leave it alone. you will get cold and warm cycles. she never listens though. i am just glad for the dual setting.

I think it must be a Avensis climate 'thing' that the temperature graduations appear to be fairly course.

16-20 degrees are fairly similar... but I did detect a difference... just..

Maybe the design doesn't blend in the warm air well enough... and it appears the face vents still dish out a fairly cold air but the foot vents are at a slightly warmer temperature - could be my imagination.

Something else to bear in mind. If you have the air directed at the widscreen or windscreen and feet, the face vents pump out cold air. I found that one really weird when I first got the car. A girl at work has a similarly aged and specced Accord and she has the option of cold air or same temp as the others.

AH... that would explain it then.

Now that is weird, and why I was thinking the face vent termperature is about the same at most temperatures.

Thanks for the clarification, so it's not my imagination that the foot vents do pump out warmer air - and the face vents continue to pump out the colder air.
