Hi all, first post.

Getting my new Aygo Sport on September 4th and as I do alot of miles to and from work I really like a car to have a decent sound system if I've got to sit there for so long. So, before I go and purchase new goodies, can anyone confirm that the front Speakers are 10cm and the back 16cm (not 16.5cm?). Also does anyone know what size the tweeters are?

Thanks.

The sound system is fine! It depends what you want to pump through it i guess...

search the forum and use the Aygo FAQ its all written in there. Alos theres the Toyota Aim website which has a link on the sticky at the top of the forum, has an idiots guide to changing the audio in the Aygo etc...

Noticed the FAQ (and read through it a few times) but it seems to say 1000m for front and back Speakers. I've read a thread on here (two subs and amp in a red aygo) where someone replaced the Speakers in the back with 6" ones, thats where the confusion lies. Just wanting confirmation before I go and buy something. Problem lies with mine that I get the car on the 4th September and the Ice install is scheduled for the 8th so I need things prepared.

That would probably be correct as it happens, as the Speakers in the back do look larger. Fact the front ones are 100mm but to be sure about the back ones I will measure them later for you.

What you getting installed?

Got an active 10" fli sub to go in the boot and want to upgrade the Speakers to something a little less tinny. I'll see what that sounds like with the original head unit but it its not enough then that will need upgrading too which I'm thinking will be the case.

I take it thats yours? Is it the 10" or 12".

Was it easy to install? What does it sound like in the Aygo? Another question, does the stock radio have pre outs for the sub or do I need some kind of wiring adapter?

does anyone know if there is enough room in the boot of an Aygo to fit a 12" sub and two amps?

thanks ;)

Yeah its mine and its a 10". Installing it is easy, like any other amp/sub install. Power lead fitted nicely past the wiring loom rubber grommet which is situated on the drivers side, with lots of room in the drivers footwell to pull the cable through.

With regards to the headunit. I bought a high level output to RCA adapter and the quality was *******, so as you can see in some of my other posts I have installed an equaliser with sub outputs on it which greatly improves the quality. Or your other option is to buy another headunit (which I didn't do because I didn't want to disturb the lines of the dash).

The sub doesn't sound too bad. But I wouldn't buy one again as I have only had it a year or so and I have had to replace the amp. Then again I have abused it and it's been in a crash and it permanently at full volume. I think there are better subs to buy but its a good price to pay for a good balance of quality and power.

PS It does make heads turn with the windows down and people think "Is that much noise coming from such a small car?!" or "What a nob end!" either way...

But the standard head unit has provision for Toyota's own subwoofer so there must be outputs for it, although not phono connections. Looking at the installation documents on the toyota website it shows a wiring harness for the subwoofer. Would it not just be as simple as getting this loom from toyota and splicing on some female phono ends to the appropriate wires?

Never thought of that

I guess it would/could be that simple ?

no because its still a high level audio output. So unless the amplifer your using has high level audio inputs this would not be possible without an adapter.

So would that mean that even the Toyota sub sounds terrible because as you said earlier, using a high level adapter sounds terrible?

No, some amplifiers have inputs for high level sound but when you use a cheap high to low level converter it will probably sound bad. The amplifier on the Toyota Sub has the high level input but as far as quality goes I don't know as I personally have not heard the Toyota Sub.

The amplifier on the Fli Actice does NOT have the high level input therefore you will have to use a High level to Low level (RCA) adapter or an alternative as suggested previously.

Thanks that makes sence.
