Towbar

Hi. Could anyone tell me if it possible to fit a towbar (preferably detachable) to my wife's 94 3dr RAV4 which has a rear stainless steel bumper/step. I ask because with the bumper it looks as though the towball would be very low to the ground and also it looks like the bumper is bolted to the holes that you would have to bolt the towball to. On the cover of the owners manual there is a photo with towbar fitted with stainless bumper as well. She dos'nt want the bumper taking off as it has the matching tubes along the sills. It is for towing a small lightweight caravan.

Yes you can keep the step with a Brink towbar, if it's an official Toyota one anyway. You can get all their details from www.towequipe.co.uk who sell them at quite a discount compared with buying through Toyota ( the Toyota towbars are actually Brink)

When I bought my 94 RAV I also got the factory to fit a full range of add-ons. Had a step fitted on back + towbar. Have used it extensively for towing and only problem I had was when I reversed back onto a car trailer too far and dented the rear step! The height of the towball has never been a problem and I've used it for towing car trailers and small trailers. The RAV capacity for towing is fantastic.
