Hi folks, new to the site, so hello

My Mum, bless her cotton socks, has donated me her H reg Toyota, it was just sitting there not being driven.

It's a 1600 executive 4 door, absolutly mint 1 owner 50,000 miles, fsh. so i'd like to keep it that way

I need to know the model designation and engine code, it's the carburetter engine

Unfortunatly it has to live outside, so any tips on preventing rust and detioration?

Luckily my Dad is a perfectionist so it's got a good build up of polish on the paintwork and he even had the wheels refinished! I'm going to invest in a cover :D

What are the weak points on the body, I'm going to waxoyl everywhere I can, any ideas on what else I can do to keep it mint?

Cheers

Higgs

Hello

Model Designation is known as AE90 or EE90 Series (manufactured 1987 –1992).

Engine will be 1.6 (1587CC) designation 4A-F (Also used in later Corollas and when fitted with a Catalytic converter designated 4A-FE …yours will NOT have a Catalytic converter)

The ‘Executive’ was the top of the range ‘sedan’ (5 & 4 dr) version for UK Market (although a GTi /GT sedan version existed for far eastern countries).

A nice well finished comfy car …

…but rust will be the ‘killer’ of your pride and joy so where to Waxoil:

At least a couple of your Front and rear arches will be trying to rust buy now so try to squirt waxoil behind the lip (although the front arches still seem to rust/rot were they fix the bolts to the plastic inner arch to.

Next waxoil the sills, especially the rear part (remove the bungs and spray inside).

While at the rear spray up inside the rear wheel arch and especially the shock absorber mountings/suspension towers apparently this is one area (due to age these cars are now reaching) that is starting to rot bad; if this goes it may be a big repair bill or even the scrapyard!

Depending on how ‘obsessive’ you get with your car if you really desperately need some particular part for your car and the scrapyards / motorfactors can not obtain it then there is always your main Toyota dealer, believe it or not virtually every part is still available in stock for this model (at present), some parts are surprisingly cheap others will exceed value of car!

Good luck

Thanks m8

I'll have to get busy with the rustproofing, luckily it's led a pamperd life up till now, so the underside is pretty clean :D
