Hi All

I think I'm nearly ready to buy a GT4 in about a month or two and been looking at GT40C and found pleanty of sellers. But I'd like to ask what are fig 8's? Everyone is asking have they been done? So what are they?

they are part of the superstrut suspension setup. normally good for 80k miles from new.

when replacing fig 8 you need to do the lower arm at the same time. once they start knocking you need to replace within 2 months i recon and will cost ~ £330 per side for parts.

I did the GT to GT4 swap and it does work out more expensive to run... but such a great car, i love turbo cars. :D

Thanks Adam Sounds to me that most GT4 around 1995 would have done around 70K so no wander everyones looking out for that.

You managed to swap a GT for a GT4? Was that part exchange? I'm thinking of holding back a little while and selling my GT aroung October or so and treat my self to a bigger toy around the new years.

Indeed there are/where ;)

Take you time when you looking mind there are a fair few coffins about to, make sure you don't get to excited and just buy the first one you see. Have a look at a few more and if it turns out the first one was best go back and buy it. But you'll never know without first looking at others to compair it to.

Also see if anyones in your area with a good one you can go for a ride in so you can get the feel of one a good gt4 is like.

this looks a clean 4, couple of nice mods but not too much. but not sure what the reserve is  i would guess it will sell for about 4k (if all is ok when you go to see it)

you on the lookout now then mate :D

Yeah I saw that one. And like mentioned before it's better to buy a second oowned rather then a fresh import. I have my heart set on another white one. Anyway. I'll be keeping a in touch later when I'm ready.

Ive just done the superstrut on my car... Cost around £240 for the parts plus labour. my cars on 86k and it needed doing badly so it can last a little way past the 70k just depends how they've been driven.

you can get the fig8 from WHIFBITZ for around 44 quid , its the no1 camber arm that costs the money . anyone with half decent diy car skills can swap em over . make sure to find out the torque settings if you do have a go , these parts are an expence so do fit em properly , otherwise they may not last very long , SOME PEOPLE SAY DO BOTH SIDES ,i just did my drivers side as it was knocking , car seemed fine after , no problems whatsoever. I do recommend that you always change fig 8 with camber arm 1 , for 2 reasons , 1.you may just change the fig 8 to find its the camber arm thats goosed, 2. its easier to change both , than to try and split them ,

TCB sell the superstrut parts also off the shelf no waiting like with WHIFBITZ.

He does not have a GT4, he has a SS2 which has the same superstrut suspension as the gt4 ;) unlucky for a GT owner to have to Shell out for that :!Removed!:
