Tyres!

Coming back from holiday.

I pulled off from a set of lights and thought, blimey this road is rough...

Kept going, thinking hmmm that's not the road, that's me

Pulled over - one flat (very) rear tyre (it must have gone down in seconds - good job I was stopped)!!!

So emptied boot (we were returning from holiday, so it was packed to the gunnels) and replaced it and set off again.

You can get a huge amount of stuff in an Avensis boot you know!

Went to local garage and asked him to replace it, which he did with Turanza ER300 - jolly nice tyre - quiter than the ER30's fitted. However, he then pointed out a bulge on the other rear tyre!!! I had hit one heck of a pothole while trundling through Yorkshire (just cursed and hoped for the best at the time). So, replaced that one too!!! :ffs: :ffs: (Being £150 pound lighter on first day after holiday was not welcome)

Then coming home from work last night, ran over what I thought was a small object in the road - loud whack, me bounced into the air! lots of cursing from me. Tyre seems ok, however the rim of my front alloy looks bashed tho! :censor: :ffs:

The Toyota god must hate me:!! crybaby: :crybaby:

I got two kids bikes, one golf bag, and a moderate weekly shop in the back

Not much luck for you on the tyre/alloy front... quite rare!!...

I hear more 'not much luck stories' from door dents in supermarkets.

I hit a pothole in High Wycombe on Monday. I thought that is it major damage to the alloy wheel at the front. Car was checked out yesterday and all was ok. When are councils going to be made to repair roads in a bad state. A motor cyclist hitting that hole could be killed. How do you claim to these councils for damage to your vehicle? You cannot start taking photos of the problem on a busy "A" road.

What I can't understand is how potholes appear in the first place.

At least they have finished the works on top of Jt4 M40 - now only takes 20 mins to leave M40 onto 404 - but hey no pot holes (for now!)

Back to the tyes though are the bridgestones anygood??

I like the ER300 tyres - they seem to be quieter than the ER30's that i have at the front.

I'll replace the fronts with them in due course

assuming they live that long with the roads in their current state!!!!

I'm sure the condition of the roads is getting worse!

I'm no expert, just an average driver - but they do get good reviews from tyre sites.

at £75 a pop they are not the cheepest, nor most expensive

Bad luck mate, hopefullly you should be OK for a good while now though.

Eeegads, the roads in High Wycombe are so rubbish! There are a few areas where the same !Removed! potholes show up every few months and the council never sort them out properly. Some areas seem like they are always just one step up from a dirt track! Whats it going to be like when the new shopping center is finished and the number of cars in Wycombe tripple at weekends.... Grr, rant over

Hiya,

Talking of tyres and I know these are budget but Hankook are very good indeed in terms of wear and grip plus their low cost. In my area the Taxi drivers love them so I hear!

Not needed any for the Avensis yet but I had them on my Bm coupe which was much more of a drivers car with no problems at all.

Cheers Johnny
