Picnic Water Pump Hole

I have a 97 2.0 petrol manual picnic.

All of a sudden I have started to lose a load of water. The only place that I can see it leaking out of is (I think) a small hole on the side of the water pump.

The hole is perfectly form and looks like part of the casting. This is situated just below where the alternator mounts and sprays all over the mount for the alternator.

It come out more is the car is standing and appears to lose less water when on a run.

Any ideas chaps. Don't mind getting the thing fixed, but I would like to go into the garage with at least an idea of the issue :)

The seal in the water pump has failed, the whole pump will need replacing......
