Diesel Types/grades 50ppm Or 500ppm ?

Morning all, I've just been reading the engine spec's manual for my 2006 RAV4 D4D T180 and it seems to suggest that for the certain engines a diesel type containing no more that 50ppm should be used and others a maximum of 500ppm should be used.

As a recent convert from Petrol should I be looking for such things when I fill up or do all garages have the same type of diesel?

Gareth.

No and yes...

Basically what its saying is "don't use 3rd World or pre-2006 US diesel" and its not an issue here.

Uk Low Sulphur diesel is (iirc) about 150ppm maximum. I've looked this up before.

Ah yes! Here's the link to the various specifications required for UK diesel:- Clicky!

All (filling station) diesel in this country will conform to this so you should be able to fill up without having to compare pump specs and stuff.

I hope that helps,

Alan
