Heater Control Cables - Jammed

Hi Guys,

With the colder weather coming in, I decided to try and increase the temperature slider control lever(bottom left control on the AE101), but it was stuck solid.

I removed the centre console and noticed that there are two cables on this lever - a white sleeved one which travels down to a unit on the floor behind the centre console. This one is moving freely. I think this is the hot air control.

There is also a black sleeved cable attached to this lever which seems to disappear off to the right behind the intrument panel, I think this is the cold air control. This is the one that is stuck solid.

Does anyone know where the other end of this cable ends up, and is it easily accessible?

I have disconnected this from the lever so I can at least direct some hot air into the car, but because the cold air is fully open, it is barely warm air coming out. I have checked behind the grill underneath the windscreen wiper arms but cannot see anything.

Many thanks in advance.

Gareth.

If it's anything like the Celica I've been working on, the cable goes into the engine bay and links up to a sort of Gate Valve just where the heater matrix pipes go through the bulkhead. This valve appears to open the hot water flow to the matrix.
