Engine Noise Rattle....

Hi,

i am new to thses boards so hey, also im not brilliant with cars so youll have to bear with me.

I have an X reg celica (140) and it has this rattly noise coming from the engine when im accelerating. On the last service it has done (5k ago) it did mention engine rattle noise and that engine oil was too low, ive checked oil and i have kept it to a maximum since ive had it. I plucked up the courage and took it to toyota garage and its going in tomorrow, 70 quid an hour !! the bloke said it is prob sommat to do with cambelt??!!

Ive also nopticed when i start the car up now there is a squeaky sort of noise aswell!!

Im so worreid that this is going to cost me a fortune, anyone have any ideas??!!!

squeek could be the v belt - 15 quid ish to replace .

other noise maybe cam belt tensioner or another cam belt guide roller

someone told me that the gen7's have chain instead of a cambelt, is there any truth to that?

Yeah i was told it is a chain??!! So it could be good then and not too expensive??!!! :(

Yep, its a cam chain.
