Inaccurate Mpg

Hi, all.

I have 1.8 vvti verso and the dashboard computer consistently shows an average mpg of 36-37 mpg.

Yet if I work it out manually by clocking the miles between fill-ups and the litres used its actually achieving an mpg of 31-32 mpg. This is a big difference, has anybody else noticed this??

Cheers

Martin

Hi Martin,

I have a 1.6 engine, and have been watching this closely. I find the consumption gauge to be fairly accurate. On one trip, it was almost exactly what the trip metre showed. What happens to me is that the consumption mysteriously resets itself once or twice during the tank. When this happens then you are getting the average for the last 100 or 200 kms (since the last reset), rather than for the entire tank. Could this be happening to you?
