Hi,

Just thought I'd post a quick hello......and ask you guys a few questions.

I currently drive a K11 Micra, which has been a great first car, but I've decided that it's time to move on. After first considering the K12 Micra 160SR, I'm now on the look out for a Yaris T-sport, with a top budget of £6.5k. Ideally I'd like a facelift one (do you call them that, or is there a another name for it in the Yaris world?), and have seen a 2004 one within my price range. Is there likely to be any problems with relatively high miles in a newish model (car in question has full service history)? Are there many other differences between the pre and post-facelift models apart from cosmetic stuff? Any common problems I should look for when buying?

Cheers,

Laura

Hi Laura, welcome to TOC!

The facelifted models are referred to most frequently as "P2", the pre-facelift being P1....

So long as the car has been regularly serviced you shouldnt find many issues with a Yaris, although obviously get someone in the know to check the car out and make sure you have a HPI check done, the basics really, but apart from that, they're very reliable cars and very rarely go wrong...

The main differences between the Phases are predominently cosmetic... the plastics inside are of a darker grey which look nicer and my honest opinion is that they look nicer overall than the P1's (although you'll find people prefer their types anyway! lol)

Best of luck with your new car - dont forget to post up pics when she's all yours!

Welcome to TOC Laura

Don't forget the "Teardrop" headlights on the P2......................and the general "stiffening up" of the structure

i agree P1 is a great choice, not keen on the black bits on the P2 lol look daft personally :D

i like those bits as they dont chip , like the paint does on a yaris :D

looks awfull when the front end if full of stone chips.

if the yaris is already black then fair enough but if its red for instance...then a black strip going straight across the bottom of the front and rear bumper, it looks like they forgot to put a lick of paint on that bit. but i know what you mean with the stone chip, werent impressed when my dad took my car and drove up to cumbria and back then made me drive up and back...stupid big cars infront :ffs:

Welcome to the club, I'm sure you've made the right decision in going for a Yaris & like DA says, problems are few & far between. Post some pics of it when you get it if possible

Well, the only bit I really liked better from the phase 2 were the headlights. This one came up at a reasonable price, at a local garage with a good reputation, so I went over to see it the same day that they had listed it on the Autotrader, and voila!!! :D Told myself I would keep it standard, but I've already found myself on Envy's website making a list of stuff I want....... :!Removed!: Roll on next week. :D
