nice one fizz. by the way the lump in the torque curve at 4000 revs is characteristic of the CT20/26 other turbos seem to have a flatter torque curve.

good figure there, what mods next

Next mod is nothing! Start my new job on the 25th, going to run the car for a couple of weeks and see how it fairs on petrol... if it aint as bad as i had anticipated them im keeping it.

Mods would be down pipe and then a e-greddy manage to get the fueling sorted out and then i may be able to increase the boost a little more but not sure.

We shall see how things work out with the running costs to and from my new job which is a 42mile round trip every day.

BTW,

I have a blitz turbo timer sat int he glove box but i have no idea where the ECU's are in this thing... any advice? Also i have a toad alarm system which is abotu 3 years olf, I presume i would have to take it to an alarms specialist to get them both in sync so to speak?

Nice figures Fizz

I used to use the old four for daily driver before I got the company car, wasn't cheap but no where near as bad as I expected. I was doing a 60 mile round trip 5 days a week, 50% main A road 50% motorway.

As long as you just flow with the traffic and keep off boost you'll be fine I was getting a average of arround 35MPG. with around 400 miles to the tank.

Having said that my commute was always flowing and rarely got into the stop/start city issues which will drop the MPG very quickly. Also you really do have to be very strict with yourself a 10 minute on boost blast and you'll be paying for it later, luckly wasn't every a problem for me as although traffic was always flowing it was also busy so no room for overtaking and other such antics. :D

I was spending about 55-60 quid a week on petrol for the 300 mile weekly commute + about 100miles pleasure at the weekend.

With regards to the e-manage IMO I'd save up the extra and get a Power FC. The e-mange might seem like the cheaper option now but it's still limited by the stock ECU, i.e. it's one of those fudge the sensor input to get the outputs you want type affairs.

With the Power FC you can map it to stock boost and turbo and still make a heathly power improvement along with improved fuel economy and also have endless scope for the future without having to fork out for another ECU later on, just a remap.

Oh and the ECU on top of the transmission tunnel behind the center console. Pull back the carpet in the passender footwell and you should see a bunch of wires going into a silver metal box, that's the ECU.

Firstly cheers for all the info. very much appreciated...:thumbsup:

To be honest... once i get to 300bhp i would be quite happy with that as it would be as quick as my old rev 3 tubby. The Power FC is a great piece of kit thats for sure but I dont think I would need it all.

If i do get one 2nd hand, how much you reckon it would cost? and then how much would i be expecting to pay for a remap etc...?

If your on MSN.. I'll add you on and bug ya some more..

You can get pretty close to 300 without an emange or power-FC. Get yourself a decat pipe that'll free things up a lot as the stock cat and turbo elbow is the biggest restriction in the stock exhaust system, so until you get shot of that your exhaust system won't be flowing at it's best.

Also give you cc a good clean out with some petrol and get it lagged. This is often missed by alot of people and really does help improve it's efficiency. Years of oil mist from the pcv system takes it's toll you know...

Also I can garantee that after a few months at 300 you'll want more :D

205 specific (Can control chargecooler pump) PFC cost around 500 new from neugun with remote commander, so second hand you should be able to get one for around 3-400ish I would have though.

Mapping is about 400ish depending where you go ask adam he's just had his mapped at Western...

I'm not really a fan of all these add on ecu's like unichip and emange, bit to much of a bodge for my liking and for the sake of a 100 or 2 extra you could get the real deal in the form of power FC which plugs into the exsisting loom as is instead of having to slice into it.

I've pm'd you my msn...

i have seen a lot of broken GT4's with the unichip to be fair.

as said a boost hike to 1.1bar, decat and a panel filter should see a good 300-320 bhp.

if i were getting a PFC i would get the SW20 one as you can then get rid of the CC if you decide to go silly on power without the hassle of code54

Well in all honesty.. I need a reliable daily runner and am not a 'power' hungry modder like some round here.

I just want the car just above 300bhp and then use it on track now and again... All this depends on how it does on fuel to and from my new place of work and then decide for sure. :)

If I do keep the car it will be good to see how it will compare to the MR2 Turbo on the Nurburgring! :)

Mate either way a Power FC would help, you'll have the ability to go further if you decide to in the future and you'll also be able to make the most of your current setup. You also get better MPG with a properly mapped FC than with the stock ecu..

Aye but the same can be said for the Greddy E-manage with regards to mpg increase. I know for a fact that i will never go silly in the mods dept for power as I dont keep the same car long enough and i dont like to loose monies.

On a side note.. I have just picked up a set of standard 205 gt4 rims (thanks Jones32) and have realised that they are 225's all round where as my Gram lights are only 215's all round.

Am i missing out on some more grip?

Stock tyre size is 215/50 16, but not many companies make them and tend to be an expensive size so people change to 225/45 16 or 205/50 16
