hi folks well just changed my ST out for a GT4 ST205 and i cant help but have a seriously satisfying grim on my face all the time :) anyways a quick question about it tho.

when starting it up and after useing it i let it cool down(or vis versa) and idle for a few minutes as normal.

But i noticed under the steering colum and a bit to the right there a button. it looks as tho it has a pic of a turbo on it. it is a 3 stage switch and also has 1 minute and 3 minutes written on it. now my question is lol what is it i may so daft to ask but i dont have a clue. the only thing i think it might be to do with is some sort of device to use after or before you would use the car? and if so wich seeting should be used.

ps ill try and get some pics of it up but ill have to sqeeze that in around driving it.

thx for any help steve.

I don't really know but maybe its a turbo timer which leaves the engine on idle for a bit after you take the keys out (i think).

I'd love that.....locking and walking away from your car with the engine still running  B)

It's not a stock switch, sounds like it's in the location of the UK headlight washer switch.

Could be a turbo timer of some sort you'd need to check how it's wired in.

Be warned though it is technicaly illegal to leave a car engine running without someone inside on the public road...

  • 3 weeks later...

sounds like a turbo timer to me but with a control switch rather than a unit with buttons. try it start the car put the lever to 1 miniute and turn the engine off if it is a turbo timer the engine should stay running for 1 miniute to let cool oil get around the turbo thus not to blow the turbbo seals by leaving boiling oil in it. if this doesant work would presume at 1 time it was connected to a turbo time to make it work good luck dan
