Gt Spoiler

faz special edition

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the club...I recently bought my beautiful Gen 7 Special Edition (Red) Celica :)

I really like the styling...its got great looking 17" alloys which I adore! The only thing I'd like to change is the spoiler, only coz I spotted the GT in the showroom I bought mine from, and I absolutely love that spoiler! What I want to know is, is it possible to put a GT spoiler on my Celica, and if so, where do I get one from, how much, and do I need to make other modifications to the boot?

I've looked around quite a bit but I can't seem to find anyone selling them...maybe I'm not looking in the right place?...but any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Faraz

I got a quote from Toyota last year for the GT Gen7 Spolier and was a little pricey, around £1500, and that's not including the paint! I've alsobeen looking for and aftermarket equivalent, but not found anything like it, but admitedly not looked recently, so if anyone does know where to get a third party/aftermakrket one that looks very much like the origonal i would be very interested

If you've got a spoiler already, then you'll prob be alright with the boot struts for now... If you have got one, which spoiler is it? The 'stock' wrap-around one, or the TTE one? If its stock, the boot is drilled in 3 places. The middle one of which you will have to fill / cover. The TTE one just sticks on, so can be taken off for the new one.

The one you've linked to, Faz, is the same as the Toyota one, but with it being a replica expect to put some work in to make it fit!

OK, DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT but one from eBay - They are CHEAP copies that might not fit and could be of very inferior build quality!!!

The REAL TRD (toyota Racing Development) spoiler should be about £450 + VAT + PAINTING

Try these guys for one:

FENSPORT TRD SPOILER

I wouldnt recommend drilling holes in the boot yourself, as you risk voiding any warrenty - Have Toyota do it or a specialist that can guarantee the work

Yep, you'll need new struts. The uprated ones are hardly good enough to keep the boot lid + spoiler open in the cold, so the none 'SP' ones probably won't stand a chance!

Kinda agree with Gordy here - chances are the e-bay one won't fit right first time, and will need modification to get it to fit. All good and well if you're a bit handy with fibreglass and the like or have more money than sense to pay a body shop to mod it for you. Probably better off buying the real thing - bet it'll cost you less in the long run! Entirely your choice though, and if you wanna go DIY, then I knew there are a few on here who are a bit handy with body bits should you need help.

hats the point????? make your car slower! and its not like gen 7's are fast!

For me, it's not really about the speed, more the look, i know it's very vain, but i've decided to little else to it, this one of the things i would want

Just personal taste really

None of the Celicas are really fast except the GT4 versions but cosmetically the Gen 7 doesn't quite look finished with a spoiler.

Go for it if it's what you want - It does look good on the car

Ah...thanks very much for that! I was very much hoping one of the benefits of asking on here would be that sort of heads up about eBay spoilers and also the TRD stuff. I'm going to check with Toyota how much they would charge to have that TRD one from whifbitz put on, I like it and its not a bad price. As has been said already, I'm doing it for the looks because although the stock spoiler (which I have on my special edition) is good, the GT one is like the icing on the cake, really makes it look sweeet!
