Squeeking Over Bumps/rough Roads

Does anyone knows what could it be wrong with the car when its driven over bumps/rough roads there is a squeeking noise come from rear end of the car. Sounded like coming from beneath the rear seats.

I wonder if the car suspensions has any known issues or recall that I don't aware of. I wonder if I take it back to the dealer for them to check it over and would this cost me anything? The car is less than a year old.

Appreciate any thoughts on this..

Had the same squeaking on mine -turned out to be the lock mechanism on the boot.

Someone on here had mentioned before that if it dries out it can start squeaking -greasing it solved the problem.

I've got a few squeaks in my car, sounds like it's coming from inside rather than outside.

Check the jack & spare wheel

As mentioned above the boot lock

any aftermarket parts you may have put in the boot, parcel shelf, sub box, etc.

Got it in one.

I had that problem, amongst others here. Mr T fitted new hatch lock mechanism and damper struts (overkill!) under warranty. The squeak soon came back.

I've used grease on the lock before but be careful. You could end up with it on suitcases and other large objects when you take them out of the boot.

Simplest solution?

Assuming it is the lock, wrap a small amount of insulation tape around the metal bar that the hatch catch fastens around when you close the harch. You only have to do the vertical piece facing you when you open the hatch. Sorted!

I did mine in aluminium coloured tape and it's hardly noticeable. Just redone it a couple of days ago as it happens. It lasts for ages.

...but failing that take it to your dealer - that's what they're there for and why we pay so much for our cars. If they're worth their salt then it will be warranty work (cars are not supposed to squeak).

Took mine back under warranty - rear driver's side suspension bush was dry.

Promptly sorted though!

I have applied some lub onto the locking mechanism, and the main dominant squeek is gone. However, I still can hear a very dry faint dry rubbing noise. I think its like a dry bushing type.

I might try some WD40 around the suspension and bushing to see if it will be cured, failing that yes I will take it to the dealer.

Hi Perfection, the usual fault is with the two plastic cushions half way down the tailgate. There are two transparent discs stuck to the C post and the cushions sit on these discs when the tailgate is closed. As the tailgate moves about due to road vibrations, the two cushions shuffle about on the discs, making a dry, rubbing type of noise. In extreme cases it sounds like rear suspension failure. Silicone spray will cure it temporarily. Permanent cure is silicone grease, just enough to wet the surface or you get it everywhere.

Will have a closr look at that tomorow. However, the dry noise there when the car parked say overnight. The noise goes away when the car is driven for a mile or so. It kind off suggest temperatyre related, maybe the rubber on the bushing is warmed slightly and the noise goe away.
