Rav4 T180 Tpws Reset Switch Location?

Hi all, had the RAV4 T180 for a couple of weeks now and we are loving it. Even the wife who initially was very unsure about it loves it. We even managing 37mpg atm which I am very happy with.

One slight issue is the fact that the TPWS (tire pressure warning system) light is flashing meaning that the TPWS system is not working. Apparently quite a common feature on pre-2006 RAV's with the system fitted. I managed to download a service document for www.tundrasolutions.com about resetting the system but I can't seem to locate the reset switch. Does anyone have any ideas where it is?

The reason I want to do this is because 1) my dealer and my local dealer can't fit me in to get it sorted for a few weeks, 2) I know the tyre pressures are spot on, 3) I know that the front near-side wheel was changed just before I picked the RAV up and the light came on within 30 mins of driving away, and 4) I just want to know :))

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Regards,

Gareth.

Thanks for that link. I managed to find some useful information on there. I am going to try the initialisation technique described in one of the Toyota service bulletins as it seems harmless enough if it doesn't work.

Basically for anyone interested it says to initialise the system, each tyre should be dropped below 26psi in under 30seconds and then when the TPWS light system stays lit (instead of flashing) pump each tyre back up to 32psi as they should be. The light should then go off.

If that doesn't work for me then I guess there is a fault somewhere and I'll have to get the dealer to look at it.

I'll let you know how it goes.

Hmm, that didn't work. I lowered all the pressures to about 24psi. The light stopped flashing and stayed permanently lit which I thought was a good sign. Then I pumped up the pressures back to 32psi and the light was flashing again. Hmm, back to the dealer it is then ! :(
