hey guys jus wondered if i might be doin the old beast any damage when accelerating, ive got the gen 5 2.ol gti model and usually change gear at round 4k rpm, is this too high ?? not sure whether it just the noise from the performance exhuast that makes me worry as it sounds like im completeley hammerin it at this rpm

4k is about right for the celica , its twin cam so geared up for higher rev ranges , you could go upto 5 0r 6 k with no worries , but remember its getting on a bit , so may not like to be flogged constantly.

134,000 miles and she loves 7K4 in second (as it drops into the ACIS band in third then)

if you dunno the history of the engine, as said above, be careful.

my 1991 mr2 has 143,000 on her , and red lines in third.

My 89 Gen4 revs upto 7.5 before bouncing but I normally change gear at 4 and she seems happy with that... Sounds lovely over 4 though even with standard exhaust..

Oh yeah and she's only got 104,436 on the clock... I thought it was a lot but after seeing all yours on here I think I got a bargain at 500 sheets...
