My last four was at around 99,000 and sweet as a nut.

Check when everything was last replaced and if things will need replacing soon use that to haggle on the price.

Fig 8's and front arms last around 60-70,000. Also check for leaking dampers.

It's a UK car so should have a full service history from either toyota or a indepedant specialist. Only accept self service if he has a book full of reciepts for parts. An oil change now and then is not a full service history!!

Also check rear diff mount, radiator for cracking, smoke from exhaust some when coming on boost is normal as the stock ecu overfuels a fair bit watch out for blueish white smoke.

Also clutch might be slipping at that mileage depending on when it was last changed, check when cambelt was changed should be every 6 years or 54,000 miles, either way it's coming up for due it's second change.

As for there only being 100 UK cars I'd like to know where he got that info from? As if it's true I've killed 1% of all UK cars and own another 2% :D Only 97% to go.... ;)

Main thing is does it feel right? He's saying it mint and for a 205 that's really does mean mint my last one was spotless and the one I've just got is also spotless no body damage and minimal paint damage and ware on interior.

As a guide the one I just bought is a 96 UK car with 87,000 with a good mod base i.e. Blitz exhaust, Aussie DP, Apexi Induction and HKS DV, I payed £4900 (Private sale from GT4OC owner) and got all the stock parts including alloys with it.

The stock alloys are worth keeping, especially if you ever plan to do track days etc as they are very light only 6kg each for a 16"*7.5 alloy that's very expensive to beat

If it's the first one you've looked at go and see a few more so you've got something to compair it against.
