Hi all,

Can anyone please let me know how to replace the rear wiper on a 2004 Avensis hatchback.

I think on the later models the wiper was replaced to the conventional type (like the front ones).

On my car the wiper is covered.

Thanks in advance.

No after market replacement available! (As far as i can see!!)

I've had to just replace the rubber

Only problem, is it is pap, and doesn't do all the screen. :ffs:

the rubber sticks in the holder, and doesn't flex properly :censor:

I need to find time to go to Mr T to get an official on

This is quite straightforward. The wiper arm is attached to the shaft with a 10mm nut. This is covered by a plastic shroud which can be removed by placing the tips of your fingers underneath it either side and gently easing outwards until it unclips. I found it easiest to fit a genuine toyota wiper rubber.

Don't buy Halfords rubber inserts - they shrink over the first 3 months.

If you cut it too long the MOT man will fail you. If it shrinks to short the MOT man will fail you. At £40 an MOT it is more cost effective to fit Bosch blades or MrT.

Having been using Halfords blades for the last 25 years of motoring I was annoyed by the cr4p they sell these days and pleasantly surprised at how good (and quiet) the Bosch units are. Well worth the money.
