New Avensis T3-x & Sat Nav

Hi Everyone..

I have just signed up yesterday as this seams to be the place to ask all sort of Toyota questions!!

I used to drive Fords and Vauxhalls untill My dad (Toyota owner for over 30 years!) talk me into getting a Corrola T3 03 D4D 2.0 (116)

I was really happy with this car which has seen me thought 92K miles of hassle free driving! I have now decided toupgarde to an Avensis T3-x 56 1.8VVTI (I dont do the millage no more!) which I collect tomorrow!!

I was thinking of keeping myTNS 200 (I think) Sat Nav but after reading another thread it seam i would have to fit all the cables and arials as these are NOT standard in the car!

If so I feel that talking apart my new car would not be worth it! What is everyone elses view!??

The Toyota website link I found looks great details on part umbers and basic how to fit insructions!!

Look forward to my new car!! I hope i picked a good one!

Welcome to the club

I have a T3-x - nice choice ;)

I have a removable satnav system that I fit, or not as the case may be.

I felt that the extra gubbins you get in the T3-x was worth more than the sat-nav in the T3-s.

I'd agree that pulling car apart to retro-fit the satnav would be a pain, I dont think it would add to the value of the car. unless you get Mr T to do it, they may quibble if you have a problem later with any of the bit yo installed or altered as part of the process.

leave it in it's vanilla state and get a Tomtom

Hi PeaJay,

Thanks for your reply! I agree leave well alone :-)

I have collected the car and it is very nice. I will review the car after about 1000 miles of driving!! At this rate it will be by the end of the week :P

Thanks, Mike

I agree with PeaJay. I had the 'old shape' GS that had built in SatNav. It was OK but not very accurate, and when the wife had the Avensis and I had to take the second car I couldn't take the SatNav with me!!

I now have a T3-X and bought a Garmin SatNav. Best combination I think. Excellent colour accuarte SatNav that I can use in both cars (or a mates!) and no hassle trying to fit one.

My advice - enjoy the car as it comes, don't go unscrewing bits, and treat yourself to a GArmin or TomTom!

Enjoy the car!!

i got a 03 reg t3-x and retro fit the sat nav is very easy, i brought the cable and tns300 off eBay (£250) and it just plug and play. but the GPS ariel fits behind the fuel computer, there is a write up on fitting on this forum,
