Nice Pic Fuji!!

Good to have a pic of a car that hasn't just had hours of polishing and waxing before it's photo shoot!!

I was beginnig to think that mine was the only dirty Rav on here!!!:lol::lol:

Thanks Paul,

You should have seen it a few days before  I was parked at the Eden Project under a tree that dumped all it's (wet) leaves on my lovely RAV :(

Good job it rained so much, washed everything down

Dutchrav, very smart, been looking at your Rav photos a few times. Did you spray paint the normal

mud flaps ? If so how do they stay looking so good ?

Dave. ;)

I've been looking at the RX300 wheels for some time ,thinking they are the same stud pattern but was unsure on offset , well they look excellent, trouble is they look so good you need to look twice as the style is very similar to the original 16" 5 spoke.

So next question.... how does it drive and handle with the new 18" on, and is the ride now harder.

Thanks for the compliments!

@ Dave : I did not spay the flaps myself. Just let the car painter do it for me.

@ Bob King : Bolt pattern (5x114,3), offset (ET35), width (7J) and centerhole (60mm) are all exactly the same.

Even when you stand behind the RAV the wheels align exactly to the middle of the mudflaps.

And it drives SO MUCH BETTER as the stock Bridgestone Dueller! It feels a lot smoother and cornering is also better.

You can really feel it is a tire specially made for Lexus. (according to the website of Bridgestone the Potenza 031 is only made for the RX300)

Only thing is the total diameter, it is 4% too big. So the RAV is about 1 inch higher on his feet and the speedometer tells me 50 when i go almost 60km/h.

Have been down to the other side of the country today to finally see the Rav that I bought 6 months ago!! Took some pictures while I was down there and they are still rather different than the pictures that you have all been taking recently!! :D While you are working hard towards getting them nice and shiny, I am just trying to get mine repaired and back on the road. Still, as the following pictures show, she is in a much better way now - looking more like a Rav4. I'm sure that some of you will be interested to see how the bits under the bonnet are all put together.

Anyway, enjoy these...!! :yahoo:

one with the subframe, crossmember and slam-panel fitted...

inner wing - under bonnet shot...

DSC00642.jpg

all fitted out - new bonnet, wing, chassis leg, subframe and front light...

DSC00643.jpg

inner wing and chassis leg welded - shot from the wheelarch...

DSC00644.jpg

another shot of the inner wing and chassis leg welded - from wheelarch...

DSC00645.jpg

interior shot - still some work needed here...

DSC00647.jpg

another interior shot - will look good when done...!!

DSC00648.jpg

rear end shot - looks okay from this angle...!!

thanks dave, it was great to see that she is nearly there. it really is a case of paint her up - refit the engine and fire her up!! i have just had a look at the books from the glove box (i bought them home for some reading! :P ) and you are just about right!! SX06ENR came from Corrie Motors in Inverness!!!

Fieldinsb,

Glad you can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.

we are getting there now - cant wait to start driving her around. She's now just past her 1st birthday and hasnt even got 3000 miles on the clock yet!!!

Some nice photos taken recently. Must take more of mine. It' strange really. I'm a keen photographer, with lots of kit, and take lots of pics, but never of my cars it seems. I must correct this :)

It's interesting to see that both front and the knee airbag deployed but from what I can see the side bags didn't. It must have been a fairly square on frontal impact, do you know anything about it?

Regards

it's quite bazzar really - no-one can really figure out what happened. The chassis leg and subframe was damaged, and yet there is further minor damage all down the drivers side. For instance, the driver's door has a dent in it and the mirror was damaged; there are also scrapes on the rear quarter bumper (you can just see them in the last photo above). The chap repairing it thought it might have hit a truck, yet the salvage company said a motorbike!! I think we may never know...!!

I also wonder if the original owner decided to buy another Rav? This one would have been about 5 months old when they had the accident...

Wonder if the riderless bike carried on moving down the drivers side of the car during the crash?

There is a lot of weight in a big superbike, ever watched a rider try pick one up that's dropped on it's side!

Plus probably a lot of momentum........... never seen a big bike riden slowly :lol::lol:
