This is my baby, she's not very clean, there are cat prints on the bonnet. And those mudguards are filthy, but they keep the sides of the car clean!

Looking good! Looks clean to me!

....and those mudguards and wheel arches look spotless compared with most people's here at the moment. I expect Louisiana's climate today means you haven't got the filthy salty roads we've got in "limey land" at the moment though.

Were the "side strips" fitted to the vehicle when you got her or did you have them added?

We've had a few debates on here about side protectors, it's all personal preference of course, but I think I prefer yours to the Toyota ones that are available in the UK/EU.

Cheers

No salt on the roads in Louisiana. We had a freak snowstorm here on the 11th, but FEMA responded quickly. They said they would provide us with several snowplows in 6 months or so! :D A couple of days later, we were running the A/C again.

The side strips were on the car when we got it from the dealer, but I think they are the Canadian style. The ones on the Toyota website and brochures look different--they are narrow up front and get wider as you go back and are rounded on the top at each end. They may have been a "port-installed option" like the wood grain dash trim.

Can't help with a "dirty" photo at the mo' but no doubt it will deteriorate over the next few days.

Junebug.

My daughter stays in Baton Rouge when she visits her freinds from LSU. I can get her to come and hunt the cat if you like?

Cats in my area have been warned quite clearly about the consequence of climbing on my car. The only creature of any kind that was "tolerated" on my car was this rather territorial Dunnock that thought his reflection in the mirror was a rival of his;

I suppose it is a dirty picture. The bird was not at all interested in my presence, he just wanted to kick @ss!

Those are great pics, Anchorman! Seems he wasn't bothered by your presence because he was distracted by himself! Does your daughter attend LSU? My daughter just graduated from there back in May but is still living at home. Since it's my wife's cat all I can do is cover it at night and hope for the best. I can't yell at him when he's sitting on it, because he would claw the hell out of the paint making his retreat.

I fell about at the thought of you trying to talk your cat off the bonnet (oops - hood!).

My daughter spent a year there starting a week before Hurricane Katrina struck. They were delayed starting as they used a lot of the site as a refuge. She has since graduated with a Masters Degree in American Studies. She intends living there at some stage and we visit Florida every year so we would be extending our visits to take in Baton Rouge.

Sorry Bob, couldn't possibly show a photo of my Rav dirty

Anyway despite the fading light, sub zero temps and the tail end of a 3 day migraine, I could not take it any longer.

I just had to wash it.

Well it had to happen, didn't it. Having scrubbed my Rav yesterday, this morning, err indoors suggested we take a run

out somewhere  So it was a 160 mile round trip to Elie and Anstruther in the East Neuk of Fife. (where it was raining)

But hey, on the up side, it's home to the UK's best chippie 2008/2009. So the fish and chips were good

Anyway back on topic, had to take some photos.

Must say Dave, your Rav looks stunning i think you have it just right the silver with the black roof bars sidemouldings/steps + the tinted glass look superb, the only thing that i would be tempted to add would be the latest xtr chrome grille but thats just my opinion.. :toast:

The tyres are covered in mud for sure, it was a particularly gloopy site, but loads of slidie fun!

They fitted in the arches with a 'slight' modification to stop them rubbing(got rid of some plastic and other bits there). Does well off road, I can safely say that i'm very happy :D

New to the forum. Hi. 2009 Sport V6...gorgeous when new - at 1400km some clown blew a stop sign and hammered me causing 10,000 dollars damage. I hadn't even made my first lease payment. I am anxiously awaiting it's "re-arrival" to my garage. I didn't even get a chance to really enjoy the new car smell.

I feel your pain. I had my '08 Limited V6 for a month and a half before some idiot kid (with no insurance) ran a red light and smashed into my left front fender/wheel. The damage is over $3000 and it should be out of the body shop next week. Only 780 miles on the clock. I shouldn't complain, mine was a minor fender bender compared to yours. I hate to see that happen to a new vehicle. Hope you weren't hurt. I wasn't, but I did feel sick to my stomach for a week. :(
