I've been thinking about getting a tax disc holder for the T sport, only not sure wether i should go ahead and get one from eBay. Just a bit worried because a mate has one and it makes the tax disc go brown, which i dont want to happen!

Has anyone bought one of these...

And if so are they any good? I believe you can get a good match to thunder grey.....

Yep, I have a blue one on Kaori and I had a silver one like that on Karis (previous Yaris)

Had no issue with them, apart from occasionally losing the screws and allen key, as they're tiny and fiddly but you can buy a replacements kit from Halfords if that happens

Some of the new 1's twist on! :)

I've got a silver richbrook one and it's still silver!

Personally, I think they're the only tax disc holders that don't make the windscreen look tatty! (but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise).

The best ones are by Richbrook as is the one on your link. They (Richbrook) do indeed make twist off ones that look exactly the same but stop you looking like you're very carefully dismantling a bomb in some action movie every six or twelve months. :P

As for it making the tax disc go brown... never experienced that and I smoke in the car <shock! >

If it's fastened up properly there's not a lot going to get in there, to be honest.

edit: As for the colour, I've got a silver one on my yaris and it's Thunder Grey. Looks great but I think the one you are referring to is the titanium shade.

I've got the same one as Al has above and I like it, it gives me a reason to only get a 12 month tax disc - only have to screw it once a year *ahem*. Also I find that it doesn't make the disc go brown, but the plastic which covers the disc and goes between the disc and the holder does go brown instead.

Yeah, it is the titanium one. Think that'll match thunder grey near perfectly. (i hope anyway!)

I was under the impression that the sun had made the disc go brown..... wondered if the glass was acting like a magnifying glass some how and tanning the paper.

Would like the back to say Tsport rather than yaris..... wonder how much it is for customised versions!

There is a guy on eBay who customises.... I'm sure of it.... as I wanted to have "Kaori" written on mine but settled for a bog standard one in the end....

Let me see if I can find him for you....

I got a silver 1 similar to the eBay link with "KEV Mc" on the bottom. It took me absolutely ages to get the plastic off the sticky things (to make them stick to stuff) then when I finally got them all off they'd dried up a bit & it never once stuck to my window (probably also to do with the slight curve of the bottom of the windscreen). It was held in place with a duster for over a month, then I got rid, complete waste of cash for me.

Ah the trick is to use either a fingernail (soft non-manual worker's hands with nails longer than some girls! ) or the point of a sharp blade like a scalpel. You should touch the sticky surface as little as possible. Screen should also be really clean and really dry.

I've put these on two cars and... once they're fixed, they stay fixed.

What I said above your post ^ ^ It was only 2 minutes before your time though..:P

Again, agreed with that. I use a normal dinner knife for to separate the red paper from the pad, give the screen a wipe before to remove that traffic film that builds up and when I've held it in place for a minute or two I put something behind it, can be a cloth scrunched up but I have used the locking wheel nut box and a box with a replacement headlight bulb in it (on separate occasions) to place behind it so the disc holder isnt using the sticky pads immediately & has some support. I also got some spare kits for them off a site (link below) which contains an allen key, those exact sticky pads, windscreen spacer and a replacement screw which I use every year to replace my disc...

I couldnt find the guy that customises them on eBay as I too remember seeing it on there a while back, but the Yaris one really isnt all that bad as it is :D
