De-cat Question...

would I be better paying an extra £100 and getting a mongoose exhaust system ?? Considering I don't know if my aftermarket exhaust is stainless steel or not. It came fitted to the car, but I don't know what make it is.

Or how about the Aussie Exhaust High flow downpipe for £233... is this basically a decat pipe ?

Now I'm confused...

the exhaust, decat pipe, of high flow downpipe.

This is how I understand it :

From the Turbo, you have a Downpipe, then a CAT and then the Exhaust ..

An aftermarket downpipe usually replaces the CAT too.

I didn't bother with an aftermarket, as they are known as being a PITA to take off from the turbo end as the bolts are usually rusted solid. I got the garage to just knock the CAT out of the pipe (Took about 2 hours - with a crowbar and mallet) when I got my new exhaust.

The Aussie pipe is a new downpipe and CAT pipe I think, and it's slightly higher flow than stock (larger curves, and larger diameter). I have known people have problems with fitting the pipe and then having problems with their actuators (as it's all a bit cramped down there) but couldn't tell you how it was resolved.

I'd speak to people at Millway/Owens ..

They are the guys who will have fitted these and will know of any problems.

maybe give IMOC a search .. I remember someone saying something about Aussie pipes but can't remember what.
