The Corolla's New Name Is.............

Just found out that the corolla's new name is the 'Auris' in europe and its called the 'Netz' in Japan. Auris apparently means in latin 'good taste'. I don't know about anyone else but i don't really like it. It may grow on me after a while, but for the minute it just sounds abit weird. Toyota are trying to follow in Ford's footsteps when they changed the 'Escort' in to the 'Focus' but the focus did not look anything like the escort that is why it worked. But the new corolla/Auris still looks like a corolla, check it out!

Well we've heard about the name before and yes it is a bit pants.

But if that car is supposed to be the final version of the new car---the one to compete with the Civic---then they haven't bothered doing much to it since it was supposedly sent back to the drawing board to get a revamp.

If I'm honest I don't think it looks all that great. If they are going to try and sexy things up by changing the name and the brand, but then still deliver a fairly conservative Corolla lookalike then that seems to be missing the point.

I'll wait and see what it looks like in the end. There is always so much speculation, and many incorrect pics 'leaked'.

Just have to hope that the 3door looks better than the 5 door ( the current one definitely does in my opinion )

it looks like a big yaris, i think they are trying to spread the same design over the whole range, if you look at the front of a yaris next to the front of an avensis it looks like its little fat brother

also i dont think the img shack picture is the new avensis as they already made it and looks like the old one with different lights and the grill turned upside down, that thing looks more like an update pruis concept

I agree with Fmrl, it's just another facelift for the car AGAIN!!

Wasn't it just facelifted only a few years ago, now again.

I know it's a mid-priced car with loads of other makes and models within this range, but they could of done something better than just give it a facelift and new name.

I just hope the final look and finish will have something special otherwise i think it will just fade into what every other car looks like now :(

I agree with everyone on this, the new civic is so much more radical visually. I also heard that Toyota redesigned the corolla after seeing the civic to compete with it, but if this is the redesigned model it makes you wonder what it looked like before??? It still looks similar to the current corolla, but looking closer you can see it is a different design not just a facelift. The shoulderline in lower and softer, the rear lights dont touch the rear screen, wing mirrors mounted on the door skin so extra window on door. I am sure Toyota's build quality will not dissapoint!

I'm absolutely sure that won't be the next Corolla generation.It's so simple to see that the actual Corolla generation is far more good looking.This car on the foto is dull really.It can't be a new model,it can't be a facelift because the facelifted version can't be uglier than it's predecessor and because if we look at the doors we see they are different--not the same shape .This on the picture is dull version of the actual Corolla,it's not real i'm sure. :D

the last face lift was when they changed the headlights and added the sideskirts and rear bumper extensions to some of the versions, this is a lot different the whole bodie has been changed the cars a lot rounder than the old one, and looks more like a yaris

i agree with LEXUS that this version does look uglier than the old one, but i think they might actually make it, its like the new yaris, i think its ugly compared to the old one

not sure about the new civic tho, it looks good but the new type r is gonna have the same engine and power as the old one turning it from the most powerful in its class to the least, which sort of spoils the whole thing for me
