For some reason the tickover on my 88 rev.B AW11 refuses to drop below 1100 rpm. The mixture screw (mounted on the rear bulkhead) seems to work fine, allowing a smooth, regular idle to be obtained, but adjustment of the screw on the throttle body does cause the tickover to vary, but bottoms out at 1100 rpm. I was wondering whether the air control valve could be the culprit but I'm eager for suggestions.

Thanx,

Is it when you first start the car that it does this?

As mine does it too - quite annoying sometimes but i thought they all did it?

It could be down to a couple of things really....

As Tegan said.

there are two idle adjustments on the car, one on the trottle body and one just to the left of the expansion bottle. try adjusting them simultaneously to see what happens ;)

Also when was the car last serviced?

Could be a timing thing too...
