Electric Door Wing Mirror

Hi All

I have a Toyota Avensis 1.8 VVTI (2001 Y) and during the weekend some idiot broke the glass of the driver's side (Right-side) wing mirror. I have obtained a quote from the dealers who are asking £50 excluding fitting for the mirror without the complete door mirror.

I am trying to find a second hand one but not sure if mine was heated or unheated. The existing mirror has electric with a black line on it but not sure if this means its headed or used for blind spot. Please can somebody explain how to find out if it is heated or unheated?

Thanks

Maj

The GS, GlS, CDX had heated mirrors, The S, Vermont did not. Easy way to check turn on heated rear window the mirrors should heat up well be warm to touch. The black line is the blind spot mirror.

It appears that i have heated wing mirrors; thanks to all that replied. Anybody know where to purchase cheap wing mirrors, new or 2nd hand?

Thanks

you can buy a non heated glass and then using a hair drier heat the back of the old glass and pull of the black plastic and then stick this to the back of the new glass

non heated glass is £25 and heated £50 plus

fitting 2 mins at the most

Halfords sell them for the old model not heated but its only 20 mins to take the element of the old glass use hair drier on low heat

I have got a non heated glass but it appears that the clip for the glass mirror is missing. Toyota have stated that you need to buy need wing mirror because you cannot but the clip individually. Can anyone confirm this?
