Hi Peeps,

Just wondering what oil people reccomend for my car, as it is due an oil and filter change,

I have a 1995 corolla 1.3 16v 3 door 1332 cc, it has 86,000 miles, a pipercross viper induction kit and a cat back stainless steel exhaust.

I do 30 miles a day commuting along dual carriageways, 15 at around 7am and 15 at around 5pm, so one extreme to the other with cold weather and traffic lol, plus i also do around 10-20 miles a night social driving

I dont rag my car but i do like to put my foot down (as many people do) i change up at around 5200 rpm if i am "givin it some" lol so it doesnt get driven that hard

what do people use or would people recommend me using,

thanks guys

For all petrol ( NON-Turbo) Toyota Engines made after 1983 such as 1.3size such as 2E-E and 4E-FE (YOURS is the 4EFE engine) and 1.6 size such as 4A-F, 4A-FE and 4A-GE I would recomend a Semi Synthetic oil of 10W-30, 5W-40, 10W-40 or 15W-40 grade, but NOT 20W-50 as this would be to thick for the fine oilways of a modern car and the grade is really for older cars (pre 1981)

I personally use Castrol or Morris's Semi-Synthetic 10W-40 in all my 'Jap-Tin'.

Also I do NOT recommend you going spending a fortune on say Mobil 1, Magnatic etc. for a 'Normal'Petrol engined car (e.g. Not Turbo'd or Supercharged/blown) as once you use it you have to stick-with-it, plus it ideally should be used from new anyway, whereas your car has 80+ thousand miles (not high I know but then NOT new!)

Also I recomend that you change your oil every 3000-4000 mile or every 6-8months (which ever is sooner)...

...I do

Also with regard to changing oil may I recommend a view of nrgizerbunny's excellent how to do guide (I know there will be differences but it gives good advice if you've never done before ...if you have sorry for patronising :!Removed!: )
