New Yaris Ts

Bear in mind the new Corsa VXR is just around the corner and will blow the YTS away in performance looks and price.

But its still a Corsa.

If I had to choose I'd go for the Yaris TS over a Corsa VXR anyway. Theres no such thing as a "good Corsa" - an oxymoron if ever I heard one.

Of course the new Corsa is meant to be miles better than the one it replaces, but thats what they said about the Mk2 Corsa and it was still pants....

To be honest, if you want performance Toyotas, you need to look to older models.

And if you want a hot hatch or performance car, there are plenty of manufacturers who do "do it better" - Volkswagen Golf GTi, Skoda Octavia vRS are a couple that spring to mind....

The Swift is a great car, not great on the twisties, but fun none-the-less.

Yaris has 100% lost it's way.

But the 130 bhp plant will be good for an ECU upgrade for a good 150-160 bhp.

And that WOULD knock some socks off!

it looks like a bigger BMW Mini. I like it a lot and the spec is great for the price. i want traction and stability on any new car i buy in the future

what makes me smile is that a lot of people once they have bought a yaris spend hundreds if not thousands of pounds on upgrading to things that car has as standard, bigger wheels rear discs better CD systems bucket seats metal pedals push button starts

the list goes on. i cant see the new t sport yaris like tvor said, being less than 15 thousand if not more

i dont know much about the sport swift but i will be making inquires

:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thing is won't even be that easy as you want to start including the VVT-i tuning in your mods and seeing as that isn't very successfully tuneable on the existing yaris, when you get the new one with it on inlet AND exhaust it makes it even more of a bugger for good tuning!

I like the look of that new TS actually & that's coming from a relatively undecided in general opinion of mine!

Shame the figures are disappointing & comparing the YTS with the Swift the Swift looks a lot more appealing & I do like the look of the Swift anyway

Just because the majority like it, it doesnt make it good!!

Look at the JD power survey for old corsa! Find it at the bottom but they sold millions of them!!

Corsa's are cheap cars thats why they sell.

Toyota take note... Good looks, good price great spec.

Will the new YTS be able to compete?

Just to add, whilst in France I noticed a large number of Mk2 Yaris' over there (just in the south where we were), of course far outweighed by Renault Clios (of which I'm sure they breed like bunnies over there)

I think the new Yaris has taken off incredibly well in France and no doubt the TS would sell well over there.

Jane - I appreciate the popularity of the Corsa, but the fact its popular means nothing - as has been said, its cheap, and majority of the British public love things that are cheap. Cheap doesnt equal quality and this is where the likes of the Yaris TS will pee over the likes of the Corsa and quite frankly I'd rather have my toenails pulled out than own a Corsa - I saw it being showed at a Carrefour in France and they look like a cheap Clio from quite a few angles.

Swift Sport - now thats what I'm talking about! Value and quality... two things the Yaris TS and Vauxhall Corsa respectively dont have!

anyone seen one of those czt mitsubishi colt things, i'm sure that has 150hp for safer overtaking.

1.8liters and 130bhp is an absolute joke. starlet 1.3 turbo has that -and thats 10 years old

Back in 1994 I drove a Daihatsu Charade GTti, damn quick as the engine revved up to about 9000 rpm. Admittedly this was in Asia, but i still remember the performance (in a straight line) even now. Nice little toy but like i said very nippy through the rev range. I'm sure it would surprise a few cars today too. Dont kow what the power on it was though.

Reading this thread is the first time i have seen performance figures for the new yaris TS

& quite frankly, I now feel sick!!!!

Poor, embarrasing, shamefull etc etc etc.......

My M8 & I have a 51 plate yaris TSport's & in my personal opinion they look alot better & we have quite

respectable performance figures of 0-60: 8.24, Q Mile:16.6 & Max: 125mph.

Can't wait till i see one of those on the road & absolutely destroy it!!! Lol

I drove a GTti too then but with a BBR chip and 40% more boost over the stock 100HP and with about 800kg to pull, it was a real hoot. Pity Daihatsu lost its way afterwards

They've destroyed it..... the whole yaris legacy.......

1.8 powerplant that makes a atrociously pathetic measely 130bhp! its like i've jumped into the delorean and gone back to the future to a time they made the stupid satria gti!

Yes it might make more torque but end of day its power to weight. Plus whats with the stupid dual vvti? did they not cause enough problems with that in the phase 1 and 2 yaris mk1s?

The car is too big the headrests feel like they wanna snap your neck, the ride height is too high and the doors look like they should be attached to your front door frame! the interior is gash as hell with even cheaper looking plastics and dials

big, bulky, heavy, slow, pricey, cheap looking. and the c-one kits are minging as hell IMO

BUT however.... 1.8? i wonder if it'll withstand boost? now there's an idea. still i dont see the point in tuning something that looks that minging.

Great photos.

The new Yaris T Sport looks unbelievably disappointing. Bigger slower and it will be more expensive to run (1.8 engine) in fuel and road tax for only average performance.

It seems like another ‘Warm Hatch’. Bear in mind the new Corsa VXR is just around the corner and will blow the YTS away in performance looks and price.

This is an own goal by Toyota. I for one am not drawn to this car in any way, they would have been better bringing out a Phase III of the previous shape.

What until you hear the price!!

The new Yaris is bigger and heavier,so it's normal to be a bit slower. But i don't think 0.3 sec. from 0 to 62mph. is a big difference

 The design is good, the motor is good/dual vvti/.

About Corsa--Corsa don't have powerfull engines except 1.7 CDTI.125 h.p./,but it's a diesel. Look carefully that the new corsa is heavier than the previous one and normally is slower.
