Aircon :(

Excuse my utter ignorance of aircon, if I asked at work they'd laugh at me, so as a newbie, I'll ask here.

My car is an import from Dubia, and has aircon, but the little radiator thingy at the front for the aircon has fallen to pieces, and althought pushing the aircon button makes things a little colder, it's not a freezy as other aircons I've had.

So is this the Evaporator or condensor?

And where in the UK (Almost said on earth) can we find such a beast?

If it's hellishly expensive to replace, it can stay as is, but if it's more the matter of a long time to fit (which I doubt), I'm quite happy.

Has Anyone got any ideas firstly which bit it is, and secondly where I can get one?

OH, and sorry, Hi everyone, I'm a newbie, not just to the forums, but also to owning a Celica

afaik its just an every day radiator to help cool the air con gasses, if you can get it off you could probably have it recored for less than 80 quid - dealer prices are not too bad on certain products - try them first at least then you know what part you do need

If its anything like the one i took off mine then it`ll be shot to pieces all over. Mine was all alloy and the end pieces were nearly as bad as the core. Good old english salt. :)

Oh, and it`s the condensor.

Thanks guys,

I think mine is probably totally shot as well, not seen the body, I didn't put my new rad in, so didn't see the worst, just the bits dangling from the elements.

Thanks Daktari, now I know at least which part it is, and what to ask for.

I'll drop the grill of the front this weekend, and have a closer look, and keep everything crossed that I can get it recored, we have a brilliant local specialist locally, and I can get trade as well :)

Other than that, the cheap car I bought as a temporary car, has now become a family favourite above the Landrover, bike and wifes Vitara, and will be somewhat more permanent.. I've even had the passenger door and rear bumper resprayed... NEVER done that to a car before.

Love it to bits, what a great car Celica's are :)
