there are quite a few manifolds out there (TRD, 5zigen), envy do the only sports cat I know of, and also envy are probably the cheapest.

Try Apexi airfliter and Blitz back box, both fit and work a dream!

as far as I was aware this person wasn't after a exhaust or filter, they may already have one

Yeah Envy will probably be your best bet. They sell a good quality and fairly cheap sports cat and piping system for the SR and the T-sport

You can have my full mid-system... Megan Racing manifold and Envy sports cat centre section for £280 and your original middle section. If you can find it any cheaper anywhere then be my guest! Oh... these two and a apexi induction kit gave me a 14bhp increase dyno tested! 100bhp's in your SR! You'll love it!

I'll be willing to take the manifold and sports cat off your hands

Let me know if you sell the manifold seperately.

I'll happily offer the parts to the highest bidders... but i need a standard mid-section from whoever buys my Envy centre-section!

Not a t-sport yet ryan... money's too tight... just playing around with various parts... basically keeping myself from getting bored!

So the simplest way of getting a few extra horses will be via a manifold and free flow exhaust? I've got a P1 CDX but it feels restricted, unlike a Corsa 1.4 with 90PS i had in Germany which felt a lot freer revving and picked up very well. How much effect would a free-flow exhaust on its own have?

Your problem isn't the exhaust... you need to adjust your driving style.

The Corsa as i believe is a 12v unit, therefore it rev's more freely at lower-to-mid revs... the Yaris is 16v and VVTi... it needs a few more revs. If you drive it a bit harder it'll run much better and the engine is actually designed to be revved harder... the throttle isn't fully open until pedal down at 3500rpm.

A free-flow exhaust as in a sports cat or de-cat will definatley help, but a cat-back will do very little as the exhaust gases are still restricted before they reach the end.

OK, useful info there, many thanks. With a sports cat will the ecu need to be remapped or will it adjust to the increased flow of exhaust gases?

Also, wrt to the 100ps as mentioned earlier, what was used to achieve this value? Its really the power the Yaris should have had to start with, imho.

Definatley!

No ECU re-map required at all. It needs a re-set, but it gets that when you disconnect Battery before disconnecting lambda sensors anyway.

I achieved 100bhp with a re-located apexi induction kit, a Megan Racing 4-1 manifold, Envy sports-Cat and centre section and a powerflow backbox. Iv also got a Perrin Crank Pulley (but that shouldn't affect power).

All that fitted costs about £800, which sounds like a lot, but that's about a 12% power increase... try getting 12% power increase on any car with just breathing mods and you'll struggle!

This does sound interesting - is there an order to doing each mod (in terms of hp/£), ie what would you suggest? Where can I get the variou items?

Erm, most folk do induction kit and backbox first as they're usually the cheapest and give the sound we want! The best hp/£ mod is probably a sports cat/de-cat as that free's up a lot of the exhaust flow... obviously a sports cat keeps things legal! The manifold is probably the next best to do as it's increased bore allows again greater flow of gases. Next is backbox to complete the exhaust breathing side... last is induction.

An induction kit is last because it will do the least on a small engine, maybe 2bhp if you're lucky, however all of us with them has noticed greater throttle response.

All parts can be bought from www.envyperformance.com - top pair of guys and cheapest around for almost any part for your car.

Whichever route you go... hope you have fun!
