1996 Celica St Turbo

Hey guys and girls,

I'm starting on a new project with a 1996 Toyota Celica ST 25th Anniversary. It has a 1.8L 4cyl 7AFE engine and I have looked everywhere for a turbo kit. I wonder if I can't fit a bigger engine like the 2.2L in it and turbo it. Everywhere I go has stuff for the new body style, but nothing for the 6th generation. Please let me know where to look! Thanks!

 Hi.

If you want a turbo engine you need to go for the 3s-gte.

Its as simple as that.

No messin about.

Edited to sound more supportive:

Ask anyone with a celica, if your thinking of an engine swap anyone who knows will tell you the 3S-GTE is the best way to go.

Turbo-ing your existing engine is something else. All comes down to $$$ at the end of the day i guess. But the 3s-gte does the job properly. B)

To actually answer your question,

the 7AFE is, as you said a 1.8L, the S series of engines (3SGTE & 5SFE) are 2.0L and 2.2L respectfully. To use either of these engines you have to replace your trans, shifter linkage, drive axles, clutch slave cylinder, trans mounts, engine mount - plus drill holes for it.... Thats all before wiring.

So if you want to more HP out of your 7AFE, I would reccomend getting a GE head for it, or even a GZE head for it. the popular thing to do is to get a 4AG(Z)E. That way you don't have to change all of the aforementioned while still giving yourself a bit more power.

I know I am a noob here, but I am a moderator on a U.S. based Celica site, nothing annoys me more than meaningless replies to questions.
