Verso Double Locking

Can anyone help with a mystery

My new Verso hanbook makes it clear that when the locks are Double locked by pressing the remote lock button twice, the doors can be still be opened using the ordinary key. ( in instances where the remote does not work - i.e flat battery)

Mine doesnt??

On a trip to my dealer I tried it on another Verso with the same result.

So is the handbook wrong OR do I need to turn harder on the key when Double locked

You have to turn the key pretty hard anti-clockwise, especially if its rarely used.
