the sav nav will have been connected to ur original stereo system. and will have used that to work and put the spoken directions thru that. unfortunatly it will not do it when u have put an aftermarket HU in ur car.

Right this is what I did to get both working together:

Presumably you've used the fascia surround and removed the original headunit altogether.

So, there should be a 12 pin cable hanging loose behind your new head unit, mine wasn't

very long so first I bought one of these Y Splitter, I couldn't find any online in the uk.

Didn't try Mr T, Helfrauds etc though..

Next I attacked the original cd player:

remove the 4 screws on each side (there may be a couple of other screws hidden but I can't remember), unclip the cd unit from all the plastic surround, the buttons will also come off - then it should look like this:

cdstripped.jpg

Then, back in the car, temporarily remove the new stereo and connect one of the female plugs on the Y

Splitter to that loose cable. I then poked the cable back behind the dash and pulled it down into the

passenger footwell. Which you can see here:

You can now reinstall the shiny new headunit. After that, just plug the protruding cable into the original

stripped cd player. Now when you press the Trip button it should load the sat nav. Some of the beep

noises will no longer work but voice instructions etc will be fine.

My next job is to find somewhere out of sight to mount it rather than the unit standing in the footwell!

It's not the tidiest of solutions at the mo but at least it works..

Hope that is of some help..
