hey guys, just wondering if anyone has noticed a real power hike after 5krpm when the car is cold, it feels like v-tec but when the car warms up its gone. i notice a change in the engine note too at about 5krpm. this is on a 94m 2.0GT. also wondering if its possible to advance the timing and if so how do u do it as im about to change the timing belt. AND.... one more thing where is the fuel filter, my car seems to be a bit sluggish and was wondering if changing the fuel filter will help. thanks in advance

The reason for that is something like this. When the car is cold all four injectors are squirting away plus the cold start injector is giving the engine a bit extra. (Similar to a choke.) The result is you`ve got a very rich mixture = less power. When you hit 5K the cold start cuts out because the main injectors are supplying enough fuel to compenste. This results in a leaner (Correct) mixture which gives you more power. :)

Tha downside is you`ll kill your engine eventually. Everything needs to be at normal operating temp to ensure good oil flow and regulated cooling.
