Power Steering Retrofit

Hi all,

I'm new to the group, but have a technical question. I wish to fit power steering to a 1993 Corolla hatch AE92 body, which currently has manual steering.

I can get a complete kit from a wrecker (with 12 months warranty), but wondered if there is anything I needed to know from you experiences.

I'm assuming the kit will come with:

Pump

Bracket

Rack

Hoses

Pulley

nuts & bolts

Belt.

I have conflicting reports that it may need a different steering column. Come say it will, while others say that the existing manual steering column inner shaft will extend enough to fit the new rack coupling.

Which is right?

Is the manual coupling the same as the power version?

I'll be doing the job on the weekend, so Murphy's law says that there will be bits missing.

What type of fluid does it use? Dexron 11 or ATF?

Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Cheers,

PaulE
