Just Bought An St202. Gadget Info Please

Hi everyone,

I just bought an imported st202 on a 95 reg and need to know a couple of things. The handbook etc is all in Japanese so I can't work anything out. Firstly the illumination adjustment for the speedo etc; where is it? Secondly there is this orange illuminated rocker switch under the dash on the left hand side. What on earth is it for? It looks possibly retro fitted. Although it illuminates when switched on I can't seem to determine what it does. Thirdly does anyone know if any off the shelf seat covers fit as the seats are a bit tatty, stains etc.

What is the LED by the steering column for?

Also does anyone know of a garage in South Wales that does speedo conversions? It's no good telling me to do it myself as I am totally crap at anything like that and I know I will break something.

Does anyone know where I can get a blanking plate or pocket set to fit round the new cd player. I have a big hole there at the mo where the 2 din was taken out and there is no trim round the cd player itself. I went to a local auto radio place but they said they couldn't get anything to fit. Another place tried one for a gen5(?)but that didn't fit either.

Any help greatfully received.

Hi and congrats,

Imports do not have a dash illumination adjustment as far as I know. The switch may be rear fog lights if it is an import but can't be sure. Not sure about the seats although I''d guess they would (at least for the front). LED could be alarm/immobiliser, no other real purpose. I got a din pocket from Halfords for £15 by autoleads and would recommend it if you can find one.

Good luck!

Cheers,

I thought the switch might be foglights but doesn't seem to do anything. I will check tomorrow when it's not pi**ing down.

Halfords tried to fit 3 pockets to the car - a universal one, one for an older celica and one for a corolla. None of them fit so they said can't get them because it's an import ?!. I sort of gave up on them. They didn't seem to know much!

I have just discovered I am supposed to have central locking gizmo on my key. All I have is one plain key. No black plastic wotsit.

I take it that the black thing with the buttons on unclips and the key fits inside?

Can I buy any spare and programme it to the car? Is it the squarish looking one with the two buttons - doors and boot?

I have seen a couple on eBay but don't know if they are the right ones.

My universal din pocket fit a treat but mine is UK so maybe that is why. Alarms and Celica = problems. The two button square one only opened the doors and turned off the immobiliser and alarm not the boot. I honestly wouldn't bother getting one as i dount you'll get it to work. Upgrade to a Cat 1 Toad or similar. Mine died a couple of months back and I fit a Toad myself for £109 and it is fantastic. Very involved to fit yourself though.

I thought the same thing but they came out to the car and tried to fit their 'universal' one. It definitely did not go in the hole! They told me they can only get mr2 or the earlier celica one, which wouldn't fit. I have now got a corola one in there and I had to cut the screw mountings off to get it in . It doesn't fit properly but looks better then a hole with wires! I will keep looking for one.
