Does anyone know if the plastic where the air con button "should" be is able to be modded to be pushed in. I'm thinking about sticking a push switch behind there and obviously need to know if I would be able to use that as a button. Not sure what I want to use the switch for but I thought it would be pretty cool and much better than having a piece of platic there.

Cheers

When you take off the centre console for adjusting the radio, that peice of plastic is also wired in like the other real switches so there is a high possibility that is can be made into a real one itself.

Really? Is it able to be pushed in? Not got my atgo yet so can't try it out. If not is there something stopping the movement?

I highly doubt this... Mine has the A/C, so I can't be sure, but I think the back

of the cover just has a catch to keep the plug for the optional A/C switch in place.

For car mmanuafacturors it's WAY cheaper to make one wiring loom including wires

for optional bits (like A/C) instead of makeing specific looms for every optional bit...

If you want a switch in that position I'd go to your Toyota Dealer and buy an A/C switch,

fots perfectly and has a built-in indicator light... Might even be possible to remove the "A/C"

printed on with white spirit or something similar (try on the back first to see if it leaves marks!)

So is that something that I can do then. Go into the dealer and ask for little pieces like that? I never knew. Thats pretty cool. Yeah I'm sure theres something that I can get that will get rid of the writing. This is looking pretty promising actually. I'm thinking about putting a kill switch in there for the sub or something like that :D

You should, yes... Tha A/C-button can wear out, causing

you to need a new one, so you should be able to buy one...

Ths is my first Toyota, but for the Nissan I had before my Aygo I've bought some

optional pieces that weren't supposed to be on my spec car without any real problems.

For the Aygo there's only 3 specs: basic, plus and sport (not taking the black into

account as thats a plus with alloys and sills), so there shouldn't even be any problem

with vehicle specs as I had with the Nissan, having a 1.6 engine and wanting parts

for a 2.0 which (of course) didn't match my frame number...

I'm telling you that there is a wire there. So don't say that there isn't. Obviously the good idea would be to go and buy a switch, however the wire is there.

I'm not saying the wire isn't there; in my second

paragraph I've even explained WHY it would be there!

What I'm doubting is whether the plastic

cover could be made into a switch...

probably not.
