Aftermarket Sat Nav

Guys,

I've made a couple of posts so far, but as yet haven't introduced myself properly. I've recently purchased a Black 2001 Vvti Celica and it is fantastic, love the car.

I'd quite like to have aftermarket sat nav fitted, however I'd like it wired to be mounted in the storage space above the stereo and therefore be hidden if the lid is closed.

So far I'm struggling to find any units that will fit into this space as it's obv. quite small, I'd like to know if anyone has any recommendations of a sat nav unit that might fit, or any advice of where to fit such a unit elsewhere in the car, I don't really want it mounted on the windscreen, nor do I want to drill holes in the interior to mount it either.

Any help / advice would be very much appreciated.

Well, my TomTom 700 definately doesn't fit, so count TomTom's out.

The Garmin StreetPilot i(x) (replacing x with what ever number) units are pretty small, one of them might fit! Best bet is to visit manufacturers websites and try to get sizes, see if they'll fit. Or go to Curry's / Dixon's / where-ever and see if you can try a few with a sales assistant.

I know its only plastic, but bare in mind your satalite signal will be hampered a little with putting it in there. Why do you not want it on the windscreen?

Thanks for the advice on the Garmin, I'll give them a look at the weekend and see if I can find one that might be suitable

I thought the signal would probably be hampered a little by it being in there, but, and it sounds odd I know I'd just thought it'd be pretty smart if I could get one to fit in. I wouldn't mind it being on the windscreen if I'm unable to find one that'd fit!
