Car in for 40K service today - just heard that front disks are worn and need replacing. :crybaby:

How long has everyone else's disks lasted?

Thanks!

I've just had my car in for a service with the odo reading 27739 and toyota reported the pads at 90% worn and front discs at minimum thickness. This is on an 02 plate car.

Has cost me an arm and a leg to replace!

Eeek - mine is about the same age and milage as yours Ed, so I suppose I better get them checked. They haven't seemed too bad, but then I don't know what they are supposed to feel like tbh!

Yup same here, about 27k. Front discs and pads both needed replacing for about £200 notes I think.

When I took my old CTS (52 plate) in for it's 40k service I was just inside my 3 year warranty period and with an amazing bit of luck they discovered that the metal on all 4 discs was porous and they fitted new discs and pads for free.

I'm praying for similar luck on this one :)

Well, at least I'm not alone. :boxed:

Got the garage to give me the old disks so I could double check the thickness against the toyota specs, but I'm assuming they're right now.

Just when I was getting smug about the cheap servicing... doh!

My previous MKI and my present MKII both had their discs and pads changed free under warranty at 20thou service by my local Toyota dealership. They were completely knackered and squeeling when wet. My present one has done 38000 in 26months and will require another set at 40 service. Clutch is going to be replaced as well. Hope the Auris does not suffer from this problem.
