Help! Rattling Noise At 2000rpm

really need help, when my dads avensis hits 2000rpm theres this loud rattling type of noise coming from under the hood, near the engine and i am just baffled to what it could be. could someone help out, iv read a few posts with similar problems but cant find the solution, also the engine always needs to be topped up with oil, its going down quite quick, is it realted? . pls help thanx guys

Sounds like big ends to me.

Yes, I guess it's a 1.8VVTi then. If it's under 5 yrs old see Mr T for a new block. If not it's going to be expensive!

yeh its a 1.8vvti GLIExec, erm its a 2002 model so i jus go down toyota and they will fix it free??

Providing it has a Full Toyota service history they should as it's a known fault. For more info do a search on 'oil burnng issues' etc on the forum, you'll see it's a quite a common occurance.
