Do You Need To Use Lift In The Compressor?

I have been trying to work out if lift is required to get the best acceleration out of the compressor. from my driving about i seem to make better progress if i stay between 3,500 and 6000 revs.

Has anyone else found this? or am i just going mad

I have the normal CTS but test drove the compressor recently and i found that there isn't a kick at the Lift point. I dont have the figures for max torque@rpm but i suppose you would really want to be hitting that spot i would say.

I must be honest but it's difficult to tell whether it is the lift or boost that you can feel when you accelerate ;)

Toyota are supposed to have lowered the lift to around 4k to allow for the gain in torque of the supercharger.

Really, best acceleration is achieved with your foot hard down which is when the lift comes in anyway or am I missing your point

No i think you have got my point. i guess i wasnt too clear. I know that its quick on a 0-60 sprint, but does it need to go above 6k or does the power tail off.

for instance standard CTS 0-60 1st gear all the way through the revs, then 2nd keep above 6k til change, 3rd still keep above 6k and so on.

Compressor.

1st gear to the limit or just to 6k, 2nd gear 4-6k 3rd 4-6k etc

or

1st to the limit, 2nd to the limit etc making sure you keep above 6k at all times like the CTS

just trying to find the compressors sweet point. this will help when overtaking do i take it to 3rd and be over 6k or use 4th and be about 4k and get more power.

i'm not sure if i'm making more sense now or not.

You really need to see a torque graph and power graph to tell where the best point to shift is, what you feel is best and what is actually best acceleration can often be different. You tend to feel the increase in acceleration, the upward curve on the graph, like when you feel a turbo kick in you feel the increase, but as the torque curve flattens out you dont feel it anymore, a constant acceleration doesnt feel like much is happening even though at that point you may be going fastest.

What your probably feeling by keeping it lower in the revs is the increase in rate of acceleration, it doesnt mean its actually the fastest point. Its all a bit messy tbh, and its late so i probably havent done a good job explaining. :P

i have found as you say you dont feel any lift it seems progressive power right up to the rev limiter .you do find you dont need to hit the limiter as much as you would in a t-sport.i just just power right through to just before the limiter cuts in and its works ok for me .again i think keeping the revs up keeps the boost on the supercharger up and keeps the power on
